Federica Torricelli

Role: Born in Modena on 30th May 1986. I graduated in Medical Biotechnologies at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in 2010, taking part to a research project for the characterization of a mouse model of Facioscapolohumeral muscolar distrophy. Since 2011 I am a fellow researcher at ASMN research hospital.

From 2011 to 2016 I worked in the laboratory of Molecular Biology, I specialized in DNA sequencing and focused my activity on the study of molecular markers of tumor prognosis and therapeutic response.

In 2012, I attended a II level Master in molecular and genetic epidemiology at University of Pavia and I acquired skills in statistical analysis.

From september 2016 I work in the genomics cancer unit of the laboratory of translational research. My activity is focused on the application of Next Generation Sequencing approaches for the characterization of mutational and transcriptional profiles of different kind of tumors. Currently I'm enrolled in a PhD program in bioengineering and bioinformatics at University of Pavia, to acquire skills for the analysis of the huge amount of data produced by next generation sequencing platforms. These high-troughput approaches for genomic analysis are now considered a foundamental support to clinical research and could help to shed light on genetic features and molecular mechanism underlying aggressive behavior in cancer. Thus, they can provide tools for patient risk stratification and novel treatment approaches.
