Mila Gugnoni

Role: Born in Forlì (FC) on 29 Jan 1988, I graduated in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Bologna in 2014 and I started my PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Bologna in 2014.

Since 2014, I am a PhD student at the ASMN Research Hospital in Reggio Emilia, where I work in the Cancer Biology and Functional Genomics Unit of the Laboratory of Translational Research. Our Unit aims to investigate dynamic aspects of genome and their relationship with the mechanisms leading to cancer development and progression.

My research activity is mainly focused on the study of the mechanisms underlying cancer aggressiveness and the molecular pathways that drive the changes in cellular metabolism during cancer initiation and progression.

The main objective of my work is now the characterization of SOX factors function in melanoma progression and the molecular function of Cadherin 6 (CDH6) in aggressive thyroid tumors.
