Cristina Gallo

Role: Born in Milano on 30th July 1987, I received the Master Degree in Bio-Health Science at the University of Bari in 2011, with the maximum score, 110/110 cum Laude. My thesis focused on a translational research on the possible role of circulating Brain-derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) during the acute inflammatory response of patients undergoing major abdominal surgery.

In March 2013 I started my research experience at the Translational Laboratory at the IRCCS - Arcispedale Santa Maria Nuova of Reggio Emilia and in 2014 I started a Ph.D. in Bioscience and Biotechnology, curriculum Molecular, at the University of Parma. During this period I acquired experience in the field of angiogenesis and developed good technical skills with in vitro cellular models, functional assays and protein biochemistry. I was concentrated mainly on cancer chemo-prevention via blockage of angiogenetic processes with diet derived flavonoids and on the molecular mechanisms involved in Xanthohumol anti-angiogenic effects.

Currently, my research activity is focused on understanding the role of transcription regulation in the mechanisms leading to cancer progression and molecular pathways involved.
