This is a test that enables us to determine whether the stools contain blood, even though it may not be visible to the naked eye.

How is the test which looks for hidden blood in the stool performed?

It is a very simple test to be performed at home, through a single stool sample. No special diet is required. The screening test is free. You do not need a referral from your GP. Just bring the invitation letter.

Where do you go to collect the container for performing the test?

What happens after performing the stool test?

If the test is negative (you do NOT have occult blood in your stool) a letter will be sent to your home address.

If the test is positive (you have occult blood in your stool) you will receive a phone call to arrange a more detailed intestinal test (colonoscopy).
