A screening program is a health intervention that aims to highlight the presence of a potential disease in its early stages.

In the Province of Reggio Emilia there are three screening programs for the prevention and early diagnosis of the following types of cancer:

• Breast cancer: for all women aged 45 to 74

• Colorectal cancer: for the whole population (men and women) aged 50 to 74
