Alessandro Rossi
In 2020 I obtained a master's degree in medical, veterinary and pharmaceutical biotechnology at the University of Parma, discussing a thesis entitled "Immunomodulatory effects induced by the anti-angiogenic drugs pazopanib and sunitinib in renal cell carcinoma". In the same year I won a fellowship for research activities linked to a project entitled: "Molecular characterization of giant cell arteritis" at the Laboratory of Clinical Immunology, Allergy and Advanced Biotechnologies of the Azienda Unità Sanitaria Locale - IRCCS of Reggio Emilia. In 2022 I was the winner of another fellowship for research activities linked to a project entitled: "Development of medicinal products for advanced therapies for rheumatoid arthritis based on mesenchymal stem cells" at the Laboratory of Clinical Immunology, Allergy and Advanced Biotechnologies.
My research activity is focused on inflammation and autoimmune diseases, in particular Giant Cell Arteritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Specifically, my researches are focused on:
- Identification of biomarkers associated with response to therapy in patients with Giant Cell Arteritis.
- Definition of the association between inflammatory pathways present in Giant Cell Arteritis and the increase in miRNA expression, investigating their probable role in the pathogenesis and development of the disease.
- Identification of immunoregulatory activities exerted by human dental pulp stem cells (DPSC) on the immune cells of patients affected by Rheumatoid Arthritis refractory to treatments with antirheumatic drugs.
- Identification of the role of PD-L1 and IL-6 in the immunoregulatory and tissue regeneration functions of DPSCs.
