Benedetta Donati

I graduated in Medical Biotechnologies at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in 2011. During my thesis intership, I had the opportunity to spend a short period at the University of Massachussets in USA where I definitively established my interest for scientific research.

After master degree I moved to the University of Milan, where in 2017 I obtained my PhD in “Clinical and Experimental Medicine” with a research focused on the study of genetic risk factors predisposing to onset and progression of Hepatocellular carcinoma.

Since 2017, I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Translational Research at the AUSL-IRCCS of Reggio Emilia, where I work in the Bioinformatic Unit. My research activity is focused on the characterization of the trascriptional and genetic profiles of different kinds of cancer, by using advanced technologies like Digital Spatial Profiling and Next Generation Sequencing. Moreover, thanks to the close collaboration with clinicians of the Hematology Unit, I am taking part to different projects about Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Follicular Lymphoma. In particular, we are studying the possibility of monitoring the evolution of these diseases using liquid biopsy, a highly sensitive and minimally invasive approach. Finally, still in the context of Hodgkin's lymphoma, we are working on building prognostic models which, by combining clinical variables, gene expression profiles and radiomic parameters detectable at diagnosis, are able to guide clinicians in treatment choice.
