Cecilia Catellani
I graduated in Molecular Biology at the University of Parma in 2017. In 2023, I obtained a PhD in Clinical and Experimental Medicine at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia with a thesis entitled "Role of miRNAs in predicting Growth Hormone (GH) response in children with Growth Hormone Deficiency (GHD) and their relationship with oncogenesis: miRNA profiling, in silico and in vitro studies". In 2018, I won a fellowship at the Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology at the University of Bologna that has allowed me to collaborate with the Azienda USL-IRCCS of Reggio Emilia where I work since 2019 previously in the Laboratory of Pediatric Endocrinology and then, since 2022, in the Laboratory of Clinical Immunology, Allergy and Advanced Biotechnologies.
Currently, my research activity regards autoimmune diseases, and in the field of endocrinology, it is focused on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and GH deficiency. The major focuses of my research work are:
- The analysis of miRNAs in children with GHD
- The analysis of insulin signalling mediators and inflammatory markers in follicular fluids and granulosa cells of women with PCOS
- The identification of molecular biomarkers associated with disease activity in patients with Large Vessel Vasculitis
- The study of the effects of drugs on circulating immune cells and cytokine levels in patients with Large Vessel Vasculitis
- The evaluation of effects of inflammation and chemotherapy drugs on the expression of immune checkpoints
