Christian Boni
I graduated at the University of Parma in 2016 with a thesis focused on the role of autophagy in response to oxidative stress and DNA damage. I began the PhD program in 'Inflammation, Immunity and Cancer' at the University of Verona in 2017. Over the years, I have been involved in projects related to chronic myeloid leukemia: initially, the focus was on the oncosoppressing role of a phosphatase PTPRG, meanwhile the second one was to generate an ELISA assay to assess the enzymatic activity of BCR-ABL1. After obtaining the PhD in 2021, I moved to a center for Cystic Fibrosis in Verona. Here, I spent three years as a postdoc researching the reduced ability of the SARS-CoV-2 virus to infect cellular models of cystic fibrosis, also working on the drug repurposing of ataluren in cellular models of Shwachman-Diamond syndrome. Since June 2024, I have joined the Translational Research Laboratory of the AUSL-IRCCS in Reggio Emilia where I am involved in the field of multiple myeloma characterizing the transcriptional function of non-coding RNA NEAT1 and exploring the role of DIS3 gene mutations in the pathobiology of the disease.
