Cristian Ascione

I graduated in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in 2013 and in Health Biology at the University of Siena in 2017. In 2021 I obtained a Master in Histopathological techniques in Pathologic Anatomy.

The technical experience gained in various clinical and research laboratories has allowed me to develop bench experience in Histopathology and Cytology and a strong passion for targeted approaches to understanding the molecular basis of pathologies.

During my internship years, I focused on two main topics: the mutualistic interaction between human pathogenic viruses and Candida albicans and the study of genetic risk factors predisposing to the development of Parkinson's disease.

Since 2022, I am a research technician at the Translational Research Laboratory at AUSL-IRCCS in Reggio Emilia. I work in the Genomics and Transcriptomics Unit, taking care of biological sample, assisting clinical studies and taking part to characterization of the genetic and transcriptional profiles of different kind of cancers with cutting-edge technologies such as NGS, ddPCR, NanoString nCounter technology and spatial transcriptomics.
