Giulio Verna
I graduated in Medical Biotechnologies at the University of Bari in 2015. In 2018 I joined the laboratory of immunopathology at IRCCS De Bellis in Castellana Grotte (Bari); after that, I obtained my Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Salerno in 2022. During my Ph.D. I spent one year at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland (USA), where I developed my own research project focused on chronic colitis and colorectal cancer in a mouse model (Winnie mice). In 2023 I was a post-doctoral researcher in the same laboratory where I finished my Ph.D., further developing my project involving Winnie mice, tumor immunology and spatial transcriptomics analyses.
In 2024, I joined as a post-doctoral researcher the ASMN Research Hospital in Reggio Emilia, where I am working in the Laboratory of Translational Research. My research is focusing on lung adenocarcinoma; my work consists in generating 3D cultures derived from patient samples and characterizing tumor immune infiltrate. The project looks to inhibit EGLN1 in both cancer and microenvironmental cells to reduce cancer growth.
