Mila Gugnoni
I graduated in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Bologna in 2014 with a thesis on the post-translational modifications of the transcription factor Sox10. I obtained my PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Bologna in 2018. I developed my PhD project aiming to characterize the role of Cadherin 6 in thyroid carcinoma aggressiveness and metastasization at the Laboratory of Translational Research of AUSL-IRCCS of Reggio Emilia. Few months before obtaining my PhD, I won a three-years fellowship from AIRC (Associazione Italiana per la Ricerca sul Cancro) to carry on my research on the characterization of Cadherin 6 in the interplay between thyroid tumor metabolism and metastasization as a PostDoc. Since 2020 I am a Health Researcher and I am currently working on multiple projects both with internal and external collaborators. My activity is mainly focused on the investigation of the dynamic aspects of the coding and non-coding genome and their relationship with the mechanisms leading to cancer development and progression in multiple tumor settings. Besides, the winning of the call Bando per la valorizzazione della Ricerca Istituzionale 2018 - Fondi 5x1000 in 2021, allowed me to develop a project aimed at characterizing the role of the non-coding genome in the metastatic progression of melanoma.
