Qualitative Research

The Qualitative Research and Citizen Science Unit actively engages in the development of strategies within the field of research methodology, with a specific emphasis on qualitative research in the health domain. Qualitative research in health focuses on gaining in-depth insights into individual and collective experiences related to health and illness. Our Unit advocates for the application of methods such as Grounded Theory, ethnography, phenomenology, the implementation of approaches for participatory research (patient and public involvement – citizen science), and strategies for systematic reviews (qualitative evidence synthesis) to explore the experiences of both patients and healthcare professionals in a rich and detailed manner.
The uniqueness of qualitative research lies in its ability to humanize science by giving voice to the stories, emotions, and perspectives of those involved in the realm of health.
