Cancer biochemistry

The BioMetLab focuses on studying the biochemical, inflammatory, metabolic and elemental pathways involved in breast cancer, colorectal cancer and thyroid cancer.
Our research aims to deepen the understanding of signaling pathways involved in tumor pathogenesis and development, with the goal of identifying new biomarkers for cancer diagnosis and prognosis in both tissues and biological fluids.
Ongoing projects for 2024/2025:

  • “Magnesium Homeostasis in Cancer: Unravelling Possible Mechanisms of Oncogenesis” – PI: Lucia Merolle
  • “Magnesium Homeostasis in Colorectal Cancer” – PI: Lucia Merolle
  • “Proteomic Analysis of Recurrence Risk in Luminal B HER2-Negative Breast Cancer: A Study on Paraffin-Embedded and In Vitro Samples” – PI: Davide Schiroli
  • “Identification of Novel Immunohistochemical Markers for Risk Stratification in Patients with Luminal B HER2-Negative Breast Cancer” – PI: Chiara Marraccini
