Giulietta Luul Balestra

I graduated in Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology from the University of Bologna, and in 2014, I completed a Master's in "Health Community and Development" at the London School of Economics and Political Science. My main areas of focus are medical anthropology and applied anthropology, with a particular interest in research approaches that contribute to promoting the centrality and empowerment of the participants. Over the years, I have alternated between operational and research roles, working in multi-professional and interdisciplinary contexts. Among other topics, I have worked on promoting health in marginalized populations, primary health care, person-centered care, and community participation to transform welfare systems and promote the right to health. I have conducted qualitative research in various geographical contexts, having worked extensively in the medical-humanitarian field and recently returning to Italy to address health and migrations, among other issues.
