Marianna Tosato
Marianna Tosato is a postdoctoral researcher at the Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry Section of the Nuclear Medicine Unit of AUSL-IRCCS Reggio Emilia. Her primary research focuses on the application of unconventional metallic radionuclides for molecular imaging and targeted therapy of cancer. Trained as a bioinorganic (radio)chemist, she graduated in Chemistry at the University of Padova (110/110 cum laude, 2018). In 2022, she received her PhD in Molecular Sciences from the University of Padova and subsequently held a postdoctoral position at the same institution joint with Simon Fraser University and the Canadian Particle Accelerator Center TRIUMF (Canada). She has also worked in several international laboratories, including the Center for Radiopharmaceutical Sciences at the Paul Scherrer Institute (Switzerland) and the Hevesy Laboratories of the Technical University of Denmark (Denmark). Dr. Tosato has received the best PhD thesis award in Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry from the Italian Society of Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry (2022), the best PhD thesis award in (Bio)Inorganic Chemistry from the Italian Chemical Society (2023), and the Fernando Pulidori Prize from the International Group for the Thermodynamics of Complexes (2021).
In 2022, she also secured a research grant for international research (Fondazione Aldo Gini, University of Padova). MariannaTosato expertise encompasses the design, chemical synthesis, and inorganic characterization of chelating agents tailored for the complexation of medically relevant radiometals. She is skilled in handling radioactivity of α, β, γ and Auger electron-emitting radioisotopes, conducting radiolabelling and in vitro investigations with small molecules and peptides. In addition, Dr. Tosato is also interested in the production and separation of innovative radiometals and the development of novel incorporation strategies on non-metallic radioisotopes.
