Medicinal Radiopharmacy

This section primarily deals with the study and analysis of new radiolabeled molecules and the study of pharmaceutical processes necessary for a potential production. The preparation of a radiopharmaceutical is a highly regulated process, both in terms of chemical-pharmaceutical activities and regulatory compliance, such as synthesis techniques, final formulation preparation, and traceability of each stage of medicinal production.

The Medicinal Radiopharmacy section has a dual role: the first being essential for research and development in the field of radiopharmaceuticals, and the second being regulatory, linked to the updating and study of standards and guidelines to ensure radiopharmaceutical products comply with required quality standards.

Additionally, this section is involved in preclinical studies aimed at gaining a better understanding of the mechanisms of action (pharmacodynamics), the path of radiopharmaceuticals in organisms (pharmacokinetics), and the biochemical processes underlying pharmacological activity.
